Introducing The Homemaker’s Design: Stylish Interiors for Everyday Living

After years of looking for creative outlets, I’m ready to dive deeper into the world of interior design and pour my heart into something that brings me joy alongside being a mom to two beautiful kids.

After moving multiple times in just a few short years, our family is once again in the middle of selling our home and preparing for another transition. Each new space we’ve lived in has challenged me to reimagine what “home” means. It’s taught me how to make different spaces work for our family, how to transform empty rooms into places that reflect who we are and how we live, and how to chase that sense of comfort and joy—sometimes with a vision, sometimes just with hope and a prayer.

I haven’t always gotten it right. I’m still learning. That’s a big part of why I started this blog—to dig deeper into design and share what I learn along the way. So, whether you’re moving, renovating, or just craving a refresh, welcome to The Homemaker’s Design—a space where I share everything I’m learning about creating peaceful, beautiful homes that support the people living in them.

Why “The Homemaker’s Design”?

The name of this blog—and my business—comes from a very personal place: I am a stay-at-home mom, a literal homemaker. For me, home isn’t just where I spend most of my time—it’s the backdrop to my family’s life, the setting of our routines, our messes, our milestones, and our quiet moments. I believe wholeheartedly that a well-designed home brings peace, comfort, and calm—a sense of sanctuary that makes you want to be home.

Over the years, frequent moves have shaped the way I think about home. Each new place—often temporary, sometimes chaotic—became a fresh canvas for creating comfort and familiarity. I learned to work quickly, turning empty rooms into warm, welcoming spaces, even while we were still living out of boxes. And I began to see a pattern: the more intention I brought to each space, the more grounded and at ease my family felt. That simple act of making a place feel like home, no matter the circumstances, became something deeper—a quiet passion that grew with every move.

This blog is born from that journey. The Homemaker’s Design is here to help you do the same—no matter what your home looks like, where you live, who lives with you, or what your style is. It’s about making your space yours. Whether you’re working with toy bins and high chairs or leather sofas and art collections, you deserve a home that feels like you. This blog is here to help you get there.

My Journey to Interior Design

My favorite job is Mom. And for years, I searched for a second favorite job. I looking into interpreting, painting, even chemical engineering for a second there. But after years of searching, I finally came to my second favorite job, and that is interior designing. I needed something I could do during nap times, think about while I changed dirty diapers or did the dishes. I always loved decorating or rearranging furniture, but I was never determined enough to go any further.

That love deepened as our family moved from one home to another. Each move brought its own challenges, from cramped layouts to tricky lighting, from blank walls to awkward spaces. But each move also brought an opportunity: the chance to learn how to adapt, how to prioritize what mattered most, and how to quickly create comfort and style—even if the space wasn’t perfect.

What started as a necessity turned into a true passion. I began studying everything I could about design. I followed designers, collected books, paid attention to scale and color and flow. Slowly, I started to trust my own eye. More importantly, I started to trust my instincts about what felt good in a space. Not just what looked pretty—but what brought our family joy.

Now, I want to keep going. I want to keep learning, experimenting, and exploring—and I want to bring you along with me. The Homemaker’s Design is the creative outlet I didn’t know I needed, and I hope it becomes a resource and source of inspiration for you too.

What You Can Expect from This Blog

The Homemaker’s Design is for real people with real homes. It’s a practical, encouraging, joy-filled place for exploring how to make your space a reflection of the people who live in it. Here’s what you’ll find here:

1. Room-by-Room Guidance

We’ll go space by space—living rooms, bedrooms, playrooms, dining rooms, even those tricky entryways or awkward corners. I’ll walk you through the design process, including how to choose layouts, how to work with (and not against) your space’s natural features, and how to add personality along the way.

Expect tips on everything from lighting and textiles to furniture placement and flow, all designed to help your rooms feel cohesive, inviting, and totally you.

2. Design for Real Life

This isn’t a blog about perfect homes—it’s about lived-in homes. Spaces that reflect joy, movement, growth, and yes, sometimes chaos. You might be designing a playroom, a work-from-home office, a shared bedroom for siblings, or a new guest suite after your last kid moves out. Whatever life season you’re in, I want this blog to feel relevant to you.

That means focusing on flexibility, adaptability, and comfort—without ever losing sight of style.

Whether you’re just starting out or finally have the space to create your dream home, I want you to feel supported here.

3. Seasonal Inspiration

Decorating for the seasons has always been one of my favorite ways to bring personality into a space. Whether it’s a garland in the fall, fresh florals in the spring, twinkling lights in winter, or citrusy touches in summer, those little updates can totally transform a home’s mood.

I’ll share easy, creative ideas for switching things up each season—without having to reinvent the wheel every time. You’ll find suggestions for fun decor pieces, small swaps that go a long way, and ways to incorporate the spirit of the season into your home’s vibe.

4. Style Discovery & Blending

Not sure what your style is? You’re not alone. I’ll walk you through how to find your personal design voice—even if you feel like you love everything. From classic to modern, rustic to refined, we’ll explore how to mix, match, and balance aesthetics so your home reflects you, not just what’s trending.

I’ll also share tips for blending multiple styles, which is especially helpful if you and your partner (or roommates, or kids!) have different tastes.

5. Real-Life Design Stories

I’ll be sharing our family’s ongoing journey—how we’re setting up our next home, what I’m learning as we move again, and the small wins (and occasional flops) that come with designing while living life.

You’ll get to see behind-the-scenes progress, lessons learned, and hopefully gain encouragement that you don’t have to get everything right on the first try. Design is a process—and it’s more fun when we do it together.

The Design Philosophy Behind Homemaker’s Design

At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief: Your home should serve the people who live in it. Here are the three core values that shape every design I work on:

1. Function First

Function doesn’t mean boring. It means intentional. I want your home to work for you.

For families, that might mean durable furniture and creative storage. For remote workers, it could mean maximizing natural light in your office. For artists, it might be carving out a studio space in a guest room. For retired couples, maybe it’s creating spaces that feel peaceful and indulgent after years of hustle.

Every home has a job to do—and that job is unique to you.

2. Feel-Good Aesthetics

Design should evoke emotion. It should calm, uplift, energize, and welcome. That’s why I focus on color palettes that soothe, textures that invite touch, and layouts that make you breathe easier when you walk into a room.

Whether your style is bold or quiet, dramatic or minimalist, the goal is always the same: to help you feel good in your space.

3. Accessible Beauty

I believe beauty belongs in every home—not just the glossy ones in magazines. I’m not here to push rules or trends. I’m here to help you build a home that reflects you.

You don’t need perfection or a pristine budget. You just need some vision, a little inspiration and some support from yours truly.

More than anything, my hope is that The Homemaker’s Design helps you feel empowered and excited about your home. I want you to look around your space and feel peace—not pressure. Joy—not stress. Comfort—not comparison.

Your home doesn’t need to be perfect to be beautiful. It doesn’t need to be featured in a magazine to make you smile. It just needs to reflect you—your values, your story, your needs.

So let’s start there. With what you have, with where you are, and with the belief that every home can be a haven.

Welcome to The Homemaker’s Design. Let’s build a space where you truly love where you live.
